Our Mission: Investing in Brighter Futures
Duguna Fango, locally referred to as the "Forgotten Land," is a place where receiving an education is a daily challenge. The young girls and boys who live on this steep mountain walk over an hour and a half on rough terrain and along a busy road to reach their school. For many, the choice to stay home and help their family is a harsh reality that keeps many from their studies, causing kids to fall further and further behind.
We know these children are not forgotten. We believe education is the key to ending the cycle of poverty.
Our mission is to create a safe, accessible, and fully equipped learning environment where every child has the opportunity to receive the education they deserve and build a brighter future.
Join us in Making Education More Accessible
Education opens the door to opportunity. In Ethiopia, where jobs are already scarce, a lack of education can make it nearly impossible to find work. By building a school in Duguna Fango, we’re investing in these children's futures.
Key impacts of building this school in Ethiopia:
Ending the long commute for students
No longer do students have to walk over an hour and a half to get an education. We want to keep these kids safe and by building a school located in their community. Education should be accessible to everyone.
Ensuring young children can prioritize their education over work
Many students choose to stay home to help their family work or farm instead of attending school. By making school more accessible, we increase the amount of time students are in the classroom and minimize the chance of them falling behind.
Investing in student's futures
In Ethiopia, the job market is very limited. Not having an education makes it virtually impossible to get a job. We are empowering our students to receive their education and investing in their future's.
Creating a place for learning, growth, and community
This school will create a a safe space for these children to not only learn in classrooms, but to engage in extra curricular activities, receive more personalized support from teachers who live nearby, and be a place where kids can just be kids.
